“Inverclyde Council, located in the West of Scotland, encompasses four main town centres: Kilmacolm, Port Glasgow, Greenock, and Gourock, serving a community of approximately 74,000 residents.
Initially, the area relied on a fibre-based CCTV system designed to enhance safety and support crime detection. However, in response to evolving needs and technological advancements, the council made the strategic decision to transition to a more flexible, Wi-Fi-enabled system. In partnership with Cloudview, the council successfully installed a state-of-the-art surveillance network comprising 52 cameras. This includes 3 mobile CCTV vans, 5 deployable units, and 44 fixed PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) cameras, ensuring comprehensive coverage across all key locations.
The new cloud-based system offers significant advantages, including the secure capture, storage, and management of encrypted video footage. The user-friendly platform enables CCTV operators and authorized personnel to easily perform real-time observations, conduct footage reviews, and capture crucial evidential data. This seamless integration of technology not only enhances public safety but also provides more efficient and flexible monitoring capabilities, making it easier for the council to respond to incidents and prevent crime.”
